Equipment

Directions

  • Preparation
  • Start by chopping the two cloves of garlic and shallot as fine as possible.
  • Put them into the mixing bowl along with the green part of finely chopped green onions.
  • Add the rest of the dry ingredients into the mixing bowl – homemade ramen seasoning or the premade seasoning sachet, ground white pepper, red chili flakes, Italian seasoning, and toasted white sesame seeds.
  • Combine everything until well incorporated and set this mixture aside until needed.

  • Making The Saucy And Spicy Chili Oil
  • Now, in a small frying pan, heat the two tablespoons of avocado oil until smoking hot.
  • Remove the pan from the stove and carefully pour it into the spice mixture you prepared earlier.
  • Whisk the hot oil and the spice mixture thoroughly until everything comes finely.
  • Add the soy sauce and tomato ketchup (if using) and mix well to combine.
  • Your saucy and spicy chili oil is now ready. Mix this with the cooked ramen noodles until all the noodle strands are well coated in the oil.
  • Top with anything you like such as shredded cheese, fried eggs, and the chopped white part of the green onion. Serve warm!

Tasty Notes and Suggestions by SpiceRally

  • Please note that this chili oil is hot and spicy in its own way. Therefore, you can adjust the red chile flakes in your recipe, if you prefer less heat.
  • Reduce the amount of garlic and shallots if you don’t like too much aromatics in your chili oil.
  • You may also use a half teaspoon of tomato powder instead of tomato ketchup. It gives a beautiful tangy and umami touch to this chili oil. But it would be totally fine to skip these ingredients.
  • Remember that this chili oil is for one packet of ramen noodles. You can double the amounts and make a larger batch if you make a larger quantity of ramen.
  • Throw in a dash of hot sauce if you prefer more heat in your recipe.
  • Choose ramen seasoning with vegan-friendly ingredients if you need to make a vegan version of this saucy and spicy chili oil.
