Ingredients

  • Spices & Herbs
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Chili powder

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Dried dill

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Dried parsley

  • Other ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Dried Tomato powder

  • 1/4 Cup 1/4 Mayonnaise

  • 1/4 Cup 1/4 Sour cream

  • 1/4 Cup 1/4 Habanero sauce

  • 3 tbsp 3 Buttermilk

  • 1 tsp 1 Lemon juice

  • Equipment
  • 1 1 Bowl (small)

  • 1 1 Whisk

  • 1 1 Air-tight Container/ jar

Directions

  • Add sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk to a small bowl and mix well.
  • Next, stir in all the spices, herbs, habanero sauce, lemon juice, and dried tomato powder to the buttermilk mixture and combine everything until well incorporated.
  • Your spicy ranchero creamy sauce is now ready! Empty your sauce into an air-tight jar or a container and keep it in the refrigerator for at least one hour before using.
  • Once ready to serve, stir the sauce again and use.
  • You can store the leftover sauce in the refrigerator for up to one week.

  • You can use the following substitutions  if you can’t find these ingredients in your pantry: Buttermilk- milk / Lemon juice- lime juice / Sour cream- full-fat Greek yogurt
  • If you discover adding cayenne pepper could add extra heat to your sauce, skip it or replace this ingredient with paprika/ hot paprika/ smoked paprika.
  • You can adjust the spiciness depending on your personal taste preference. Accordingly, use more or less habanero sauce, adjusting the quantity used in our recipe.
  • You don’t need to have both of these dried herbs in your sauce; just follow up with what you have in hand.
