Ingredients

  • Spices
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Smoked paprika

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Chili powder

  • Other ingredients
  • 1/3 cup 1/3 Mayonnaise

  • 1/3 cup 1/3 Sour cream

  • 2 tbsp 2 Full-fat Greek yogurt

  • 4 tbsp 4 Chipotle sauce (from a can of adobo)

  • 1 tsp 1 Apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Kosher salt

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Light brown sugar

  • Equipment
  • 1 1 Bowl

  • 1 1 Small whisk

  • 1 1 Well-fitting mason jar/ container

Directions

  • Add all the ingredients to the mixing bowl and combine everything thoroughly until well mixed.
  • Do the taste check and adjust the seasonings if needed.
  • Empty your sauce into an air-tight container/ jar and pop it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Do not skip this step, as it helps the ingredients to emulsify together to bring the best flavor.
  • You can keep your homemade Taco Bell creamy Chipotle sauce in the refrigerator for up to ten days.

Notes

  • Although we have used chili powder in our recipe, you can skip it if you need your sauce to be milder.
  • You could also use red or white wine vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar to get a different flavor. Lime or lemon juice could work better as well.
  • Mix in some chopped cilantro for more flavor and color.
  • You can add a small, freshly chopped jalapeno if you like to make this condiment spicier and hotter.
  • To make a low-fat version of this sauce, use low-fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, mayonnaise, and full-fat Greek yogurt.
