Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Fresh Orange Juice

  • ¼ cup Water

  • ¾ cup Brown Sugar

  • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar

  • 3-4 Cinnamon Sticks

  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger

  • Zest of 1 Large Orange

  • Zest of ½ Lemon

  • 2 Whole Cloves

  • 1 Star Anise

  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice

Directions

  • In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, water, brown sugar, and white sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Stir in cinnamon stick, ginger slices, orange zest, lemon zest, cloves, and star anise.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and your kitchen smells like citrus spice heaven. Don’t boil hard as  you want to preserve the fresh orange notes.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and lemon juice. This adds brightness and helps preserve the syrup’s color and flavor.
  •  Strain through a fine sieve, discard solids, and let it cool fully.
  •  Pour into a sterilized glass jar or bottle and refrigerate. Shake before using.
