Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Water

  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1 tsp  Mesquite Powder

  • 1/2–3/4 tsp Liquid Smoke

  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin

  • 1/2 tsp Mild Chili Powder

  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes

  • 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper

  • 1/4 tsp Dried Oregano

Directions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  • Use a whisk to mix everything until well combined.
  • Taste the marinade and adjust sweetness, tang, or smokiness as you prefer.
  • Use as required, or store the unused marinade in a well-fitting container until needed.

Notes

  • The recipe yields about 01 cup of marinade, enough for 1 to 1.5 pounds of meat or vegetables. Pour over your protein (chicken, beef, pork, or veggies), marinate at least 30 minutes (best 2–4 hours, or overnight for bold flavor), and then grill, roast, or pan-sear as desired.
  • The sweetness, tang, and smokiness can be adjusted by tweaking the sugar, vinegar, or liquid smoke levels to suit your taste.
  • Unused marinade can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, making it a convenient option for quick weeknight meals or weekend cookouts.
