Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Light Soy Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Shaoxing Rice Wine

  • 1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil

  • 2 tbsp Neutral Oil (canola or vegetable)

  • 1 tbsp  Honey

  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger (finely grated)

  • 3 cloves Garlic ( finely grated)

  • 1 tsp Ground White Pepper

  • ½ tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder

  • 1 tsp Cornstarch

Directions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing rice wine, sesame oil, neutral oil, honey, and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the grated ginger, garlic, white pepper, Chinese five spice, and cornstarch. Whisk until well combined.

Notes

  • Best Results: Marinate chicken for 2–8 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor and tenderness.
  • Cooking Versatility: Excellent for stir-fries, grilled chicken, roasted chicken, skewers, or air fryer recipes.
  • Extra Flavor: Brush leftover unused marinade (or a freshly prepared batch brought to a boil) over the chicken during the final minutes of cooking for a glossy, flavorful finish.
